CHAPEL SERVICES

The Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission is a Christian-based organization. Although we don't force or impose religious beliefs on anyone, we welcome the opportunity to minister to the spiritual and emotional needs of everyone who enters our doors. To that end, we offer evening chapel services at both the Texas Street and McNeil Street sites for anyone who wishes to attend.

The Rescue Mission conducts one chapel service per day Monday through Saturday and two services on Sunday. Each service lasts approximately one hour and consists of praise and worship, collective prayer and an inspirational message.

Nightly chapel services are offered at 6 p.m. If you or your church would like to participate in or lead a chapel service, contact Ron Hampton, 318.227.2868, ext. 124.

DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING PROGRAM

MISSION STATEMENT  
The Discipleship Training Program prepares homeless men, women and children to serve God, as they prepare for independent and productive living.

ABOUT
The Discipleship Training Program equips participants with the fundamental skills to overcome and successfully deal with the stressors of life.

Each participant resides on-site and receives one-on-one counseling, small group sessions, work therapy opportunities and daily devotions. Participants are taught the basics of Christianity and attend classes that address specific needs such as anger management, basic living and parenting skills, knowing God’s will and soul restoration. Our purpose is to equip each participant with fundamental skills they can use for a lifetime.

WORK ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

MISSION STATEMENT 
To provide safe and affordable housing for the working homeless, while they prepare for independent living.

ABOUT
The Work Assistance Program is designed to assist the working homeless with limited food, clothing and safe shelter, until permanent housing is acquired. Each participant is required to save a percentage of their income, attend specific, independent living skills classes, daily devotions and pay a modest program fee.

HOMELESS INTERVENTION SERVICES

MISSION STATEMENT
This program provides holistic care, both physical and emotional, to the chronic homeless and housing vulnerable.

ABOUT                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         The Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission provides safe and secure shelter from the elements for the homeless suffering with physical, emotional and/or mental disabilities. 

The Guest Resident Program is designed to provide short term, emergency services to homeless persons for a period of up to 7 days. These services include shelter, food, clothing, counseling and medical attention.

The Extended Stay Program is designed to provide emergency services to homeless men for 30 to 60 days until permanent housing and basic needs are secured. Women are allowed after seven days to enroll in the Discipleship Training Program for Women, which lasts nine months.

These programs provide participants on-site residence, food, clothing, medical and other basic assistance, including Christian counseling and case management, until permanent housing and benefits are acquired. Our goal is to provide the best possible opportunities for participants to achieve and maintain the highest possible level of independent living.

WOMEN & FAMILY SERVICES

MISSION STATEMENT
This program provides holistic care, both physical and emotional, to homeless and housing vulnerable women and children with families.

ABOUT
Women and Family area of the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission provides a safe, comfortable environment for single women and families with children. All of their needs are provided, from bedding and clothing to meals and hygiene needs. They are referred to other agencies as needed for help with job searches, job training and acquiring proper identification. The Rescue Mission provides medical and dental services, life skill classes, and nightly chapel services. Life skill classes include anger management training, domestic abuse awareness, health and nutrition education, and financial literacy.
