Give for Good
For 65 years, the Mission has been on the frontlines as a beacon of hope ready to help the most hurting and vulnerable in our community. From the Vietnam vet with severe PTSD, to the family struggling from the 2008 recession, to those affected by the current COVID-19 pandemic, and more, the Mission has been and continues to provide critical life services to the people of Northwest Louisiana.
In a few short weeks, life as we know it has changed drastically. Through these uncertain and unprecedented times, the mission is continuing to plan for the long term work of helping the homeless during the COVID-19 crisis and beyond.
The needs in our community continue to grow. With US unemployment rates at a record high and the new record low in oil prices, we are preparing to help meet the needs of individuals who need our help in the coming weeks and months. The work will be long and hard but God did not call us do easy!
The Mission is in need of your support more than ever. While some nonprofits have closed or narrowed their operations, we are expanding our doors wider than ever to meet the needs of our homeless neighbors in times of crisis. Our top priority is to keep our homeless neighbors safe and healthy.
So, how do we continue to do what we do during times of crisis? It’s through people like YOU!
You bring hope to the hopeless. You bring food to the hungry. You bring healing to the hurting. You bring change to our cities! At the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission, we are on a mission to change our cities one life at a time starting with the homeless men, women and children in our care. Your partnership makes this vision a reality!
You can help change the lives of even more homeless men, women, and children in the community by partnering with us on Give For Good Day (North Louisiana’s largest day of online giving). Starting now through May 5th, you can visit www.giveforgoodnla.org/sbrescuemission and give to make a difference in the lives of homeless men, women, and children. The best part of Give For Good is that each gift is enhanced through the Community Foundations Lagniappe Fund so your impact will be amplified even more.
We are only able to meet the needs of our community because of the generosity of our community. At a time when we have to spend time apart, we want to challenge our community to come together this Give for Good Day. Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little; Together we can do so much.” So are you ready to make impact and help us change our cities one life at a time? Join the #SBMissionLife, Give for Good, and then share so we can start a ripple effect of generosity throughout our cities.
Update: Wow! This Give for Good, we asked you to give for good to give homeless men, women and children the care they needed and boy, did you come through! You proved that no pandemic or crisis could stop the goodness and generosity of our community! This year, the Mission raised $20,832 during Give for Good. Thank you so much for partnering with us to change our cities one life at a time! Follow us on social media to see how your Give for Good gift is impacting the lives of homeless men, women and children and check out this special thank you message from our guests!
