The Gift of the Holy Spirit

Our Life Recovery Program is dedicated to equipping our guests with the tools they need to find God, find purpose and find life. We walk alongside them as they find healing, secure jobs, find stable housing and discover their place in the world. But above all, we rejoice in helping them find a relationship with Jesus Christ!

Scripture says in Acts 2:38, “Peter replied, ‘Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’”

On May 3rd of this year, we had the incredible honor of holding our first on-site baptisms at the Mission. While we’ve had the privilege of hosting baptisms in the past, logistical challenges such as transportation and limited access to facilities meant we could only do so occasionally.

But God provided in an unexpected way! We were blessed to purchase 2 baptismal tubs, enabling us to hold baptisms in our very own multipurpose room.

With new guests arriving regularly, we are excited to now hold baptisms every six weeks, ensuring that everyone who desires can take this next step in their faith journey. Since that first on-site baptism, we have witnessed 31 men, women and children publicly declare their faith in Jesus Christ through baptism.

These are the moments we live for! Each baptism is a powerful testimony of God’s grace and redemption. With every step they take towards healing and wholeness we are reminded of God’s promise in 2 Corinthians 5:17: “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” Our guests are shedding their past selves and being rebuild and renewed into a new person in Christ.

Scripture tells us the thief came to steal, kill, and destroy. Unfortunately for our guests, the enemy has stolen their Jeremiah 29:11. But God has always had a plan. Our guests are taking back their hope, taking back their future, and are ready to live out God’s promises in their life.
